:: Ron's Message for Floyd County

Dear Fellow Floyd Countians,

Growing up as a young boy in the Silver Creek community my parents taught me many things. We enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; singing, telling jokes, eating muscadines off the vine, and the importance of self-sufficiency and the value of a dollar. My father used to supplement his union salary by doing odd jobs like cutting firewood, and selling the honey from his bees. He taught me many things throughout my childhood, the importance of hard work, keeping a positive attitude, and the sting of the hickory when I needed direction. I would not trade those lessons or memories for anything because they are an important part of who I am today.

I have faithfully and proudly served the citizens of Floyd County over the past 20 years working in law enforcement for the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. I have also worked to supplement my salary just as my father did when I was young. I began purchasing real estate in 1991 and became a Laundromat business owner in 2000. These undertakings have been successful, and have given me a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of business management. I know what it means to struggle, and because of that, I can say that I am a good steward of all the financial blessings that I now enjoy. I would carry this stewardship forward if elected as Tax Commissioner of Floyd County.

I seek the office of Tax Commissioner because I love the county of my birth and I want to continue to serve the people of Floyd County. If elected, I would serve ethically, with integrity, and with equal fairness to all Floyd County taxpayers. I have many good ideas for the office of Tax Commissioner and I look forward to implementing those ideas if elected. My basic platform is listed below. I need your assistance, support, and vote, if I am to win the election in November.

Sincerely,

Ron Morris
