Ron Morris, lifelong native of Floyd County and resident of the Silver Creek community, formally got his candidacy underway on July 16, 2008. Ron has a rich history of civic duty. Ron announces the following platform for the Office of Floyd County Tax Commissioner
- I will work to improve customer service by setting customer service standards and measurements, with a customer friendly and professional atmosphere.
- I will hire the most qualified people and promote based on merit, not favoritism.
- I will look for ways to improve cost efficiencies within the Tax Commissioner’s Office, along with providing a financial statement so the taxpayers will know how their dollars are collected and distributed.
- I will require daily balancing of all monies collected in the Tax Commissioner’s Office to ensure no discrepancies.
- I will study the possibility of the development of a Taxpayer Assistance Program Service (TAPS) that would assist taxpayers with extraordinary financial hardship circumstances. This would involve defining those hardships which would have to be qualified.
- I will study the possibility of a “round up your tax dollar” program to assist in the funding of TAPS.
- I will support ongoing education of office personnel to best serve the interests of Floyd County taxpayers, and increase the efficiency of operations.
- I will uphold the laws, rules, and regulations governing the Office of the Floyd County Tax Commissioner as set forth in the Official Code of Georgia.
- I will serve with compassion and with loyalty to those who have entrusted me to this office and will treat all Floyd County tax payers equally.
